Sculptra Facial Treatments
Sculptra® is a dermal filler that targets deep wrinkles in the face, specifically the cheeks and temples. It helps to restore facial skin structure and volume, improve skin elasticity, and create plumper, more youthful skin.
If deep wrinkles, skin laxity, and skin volume loss are your primary skin concerns, Sculptra® is an excellent treatment option for you.
At Enrichment Skin Solutions, we offer exceptional Sculptra® services and treatment plans to clients looking to take the next step on their aesthetic journey.
How Does Sculptra® Work?
The active ingredient in Sculptra® is Poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA). PLLA is a biodegradable and biocompatible injectable – it is safe for injection into living facial tissue even though it is a synthetic material.
PLLA is what sets Sculptra® apart from other dermal fillers, as it acts as a biostimulator. This means that it works with and boosts your body’s natural collagen production processes. This is important because collagen is the fibrous protein that supports the skin’s structure, giving your skin its elasticity, plumpness, and volume.
Unfortunately, collagen production naturally decreases as you age – most people over 40 have already lost 20% of their facial collagen. When PLLA is injected into and absorbed by the dermis (the middle layer of your skin), it begins to stimulate collagen production and helps to rebuild deteriorating collagen fibers.
Over time, as collagen production increases, your skin’s natural plumpness and volume will be gradually restored, and deep wrinkles and lines will fill out.
What Areas Is Sculptra® Used To Treat?
Sculptra® is a popular aesthetic solution for the cheeks, temples which can indirectly improve, lines around the mouth (also called ‘marionette’ lines) and crows feet (around the eyes).
It is used to add volume and improves skin glow, tightness in the areas injected.
What Does The Treatment Process Involve?
Sculptra® is a non-invasive cosmetic treatment. The treatment process begins with a detailed consultation with an aesthetic professional, who will determine if you are a suitable candidate for the treatment. Most healthy adults are suitable candidates, provided they are not allergic to the treatment’s active ingredients and do not have a history of scarring or keloids.
The treatment itself involves the injection of Sculptra® into the dermal layer of skin in the areas selected for treatment. You may experience a slight tingling or stinging sensation, but discomfort is minimal for most patients. The entire procedure usually only takes between 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the number of areas being treated.
After you have received the injections, it is recommended that you gently massage the injected areas for five minutes, five times a day for five days to help evenly distribute Sculptra® across the injected area. Your aesthetic practitioner will give you instructions for any post-treatment actions you need to take.
Frequently Asked Questions
What Is The Recovery Period, And What Potential Side Effects Should I Be Aware Of?
The recovery period for most patients is minimal, as Sculptra® is generally a well-tolerated aesthetic product. You may experience mild swelling, bruising, tenderness, and/or redness at the injection sites, but these symptoms should disappear within a couple of days and can be alleviated with ice packs.
If you experience these symptoms, it is advised that you avoid strenuous activity for a few days. Sculptra® is FDA-approved and has a low risk of side effects, although in very rare cases small bumps may form under the skin of the treated area.
When Should I Expect Results?
What makes Sculptra® different from traditional dermal fillers is that it works through the body’s natural processes, rather than plumping up the skin artificially with active ingredients. For this reason, the results from your treatment will become gradually noticeable over weeks and months, as your skin’s natural collagen production begins to increase and collagen strands are rebuilt.
Sculptra® is most effective when two to three rounds of treatment are administered, spaced four to six weeks apart. Structuring the treatment plan in this way allows you to achieve longer-lasting results.
How Much Will My Treatment Cost?
The cost of your treatment depends on the number of syringes of Sculptra® you need to have injected and the number of areas you decide to treat. Many clinics offer payment plans to assist clients who would prefer to pay for their treatments in smaller monthly installments.
What Are The Unique Benefits of Sculptra®?
If you are looking for immediate results, Sculptra® may not be the best option for you. While there may be some initial volume recovery at the injection site, the results of your treatment will usually only begin to be apparent several weeks after your treatment. However, this is what makes Sculptra® one of the most natural, subtle, and effective anti-aging solutions on the market: because it works gradually over time, there is no immediate, noticeable change in your appearance.
One of the major advantages of Sculptra® is the longevity of the results it produces. While it may take a few months for your Sculptra® treatment to have its full effect, the results typically last for up to two years. In contrast, traditional fillers – such as hyaluronic acid fillers – only last a few months. As you approach the two-year mark, you can arrange a follow-up treatment to maintain your results.
Another benefit of Sculptra® is that it is a non-invasive anti-aging cosmetic procedure. The treatment itself takes a matter of minutes and there is very little downtime afterwards. More importantly, none of the risks associated with cosmetic surgery are present.
