What are dermal fillers? Why do I need a dermal filler? There are multifactorial structural reasons a person benefits from a Dermal Filler.
Besides common environmental reasons, such as, pollution and the sun, we all mature at different rates. We experience skin thinning, diminished elasticity, fat shifting compartments, muscle action, laxity of ligaments and diminished bone volume. As a result, we have static lines and dynamic lines, in places we don’t want.
We also undergo abnormal production of collagen-degrading matrix malloproteinases (MMPs). This leads to a decrease in collagen type I. The collagen type I manifests as fine lines, rhythms, and laxity.
Therefore we experience volume loss. This can present as dermal thinning, fat loss and redistribution, skeletal remodeling or the resorption and posterior remodeling of maxillary bone, the alveolar ridge and mandibular resorption, and widening of the orbital sockets. Most people will see the redistribution of deep and subcutaneous fat over temporal, deep malleolar, mandibular, and preauricular areas. These areas include the infraorbital hollows (eyes), the nasal labial folds (sides of the mouth), and the jowls (chin and jaw line).
Bone loss in the perioral area weakens support of the lateral structures. This results in deepening of the maxilla (cheek) and the positioning of the nasolabial creases (smile lines) near the upper lateral lip.
Normally and naturally we have an occurring polysaccharide polymer or “Hyaluronic Acid” that retains water and thereby volumizes our own natural component of the skin. Hyaluronic Acid or HA is found in all vertebrates which maintains volume and viscosity of the skin. Through aging the HA concentrations within the skin decrease.
Dermal fillers have a cross-linked HA which creates a 3-D matrix structure. This robust scaffolding network structure increases the resistance to enzymatic degradation (hyaluronidase). The benefits of HA dermal filler is that it is biocompatible, non-antigenic, non-pyrogenic, non-inflammatory, non-toxic, non-animal, long-lasting, and natural looking.
There are many uses for HA, such as, nasolabial folds (smile lines), lips, eye hollows, cheek augmentation, chin wrinkles, droopy eyelids, temple hollows, lip lines, sagging mouth corners, stubborn glabellar lines (elevens) and even jaw recontouring.
Contact us at Enrichment Skin Solutions and we can discuss how Hylauronic Acid fillers (Belotero, Restylane, Radiesse, Juvederm) will enhance your beauty and restore your volume loss.
