PDO Threads: Tighten Your Skin From the Inside Out

Is your skin losing its youthful lift, firmness, or smoothness? If you want more than a surface-level refresh—a treatment that addresses skin quality and elasticity on a cellular level—now is the time to invest in PDO threads.

Near Blaine, our team at Enrichment Skin Solutions believes medical spas should do more than simply fill in lines and wrinkles. That is why we are an aesthetics clinic that focuses on regenerative medicine—not quick fixes.

What Are PDO Threads?

PDO threads are dissolvable, FDA-approved sutures that restore skin quality and firmness from the inside out.

We recommend PDO threads to reduce the appearance of:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Sunken cheeks
  • Crepey or sagging skin
  • Jowls or lost jawline definition
  • Forehead lines, crow’s feet, smile lines, and marionette lines.

How Do PDO Threads Work?

Our medical providers insert PDO threads under the skin in targeted areas of the face, neck, and body using a cannula, or hollow needle. After we remove the cannula, we gently pull the threads and secure them right underneath the epidermis. Clients may experience some initial tightening as we secure the threads, as a “sneak peek” of the benefits to come.

Once inserted, PDO threads dissolve, stimulating the body’s natural healing response. This prompts the production of collagen and elastin—proteins responsible for skin strength, structure, and elasticity—that use the PDO threads as “scaffolding” to maintain and enhance the initial lift. These results develop 4 to 6 months after your appointment and can last 15 to 24 months with proper care.

What to Expect Post-Treatment

Immediately after your appointment, you may experience some minor bruising, swelling, or redness around the treatment areas, which should subside within 1 to 2 days. We recommend applying an ice pack, cold compress, or taking a pain management medication, such as Tylenol, to alleviate discomfort. Avoid nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as aspirin or ibuprofen, which can increase the risk of bruising.

Who Is the Ideal Candidate for PDO Threads and Who Is Not?

We recommend PDO threads near Blaine to clients seeking minimally invasive, natural skin-tightening and lifting. If you are experiencing mild skin laxity, PDO threads are an excellent option. For more advanced skin laxity, a surgical alternative may be more effective.

To ensure patient safety and promote optimal results, we do not recommend PDO threads under these circumstances:

  • Pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Active skin infections or open wounds near the treatment site
  • Autoimmune or blood disorders
  • Cancer or a history of cancer
  • History of keloids or hypertrophic scarring
  • Allergies to polydioxanone
