Microneedling is a minimally invasive skin rejuvenation procedure that uses a device called a Cytopen. This small device delivers gentle punctures to the skin to stimulate the skin’s natural healing process. This causes the body to release immune cells that regenerate new healthy tissue. This treatment can improve the appearance of the complexion while minimizing pores, scars, stretch marks, and other signs of aging.
Also known as collagen induction therapy, microneedling is performed with a pen-shaped device that is electrically powered with tiny needles that make precise punctures into the skin. These micro-injuries won’t leave any scars but will stimulate the skin to repair itself through dermal remodeling.
This process stimulates the skin to produce new collagen through a wound-healing cascade, while at the same time maintaining the integrity of the epidermis. As we age, the collagen levels in our skin decline, so this regeneration process will help repair the skin and rejuvenate how it looks. It also helps the outermost layer of the skin, the epidermis, to thicken and become more taut as it naturally thins as we age too.
While microneedling can be performed on various patients, it is generally recommended for patients over 40. The ideal candidates for this treatment are patients who are beginning to notice signs of aging on the face like discoloration, fine lines, smile lines, age spots, or wrinkles.
Microneedling is a great treatment option for those who are looking to:
Please note that both elastin and collagen production take time, so you won’t see results immediately after your microneedling treatment.
There are many instances when it isn’t safe for someone to have microneedling treatment including:
Microneedling has been successful at treating many different skin conditions that cause depressions in the face like burns, acne scarring, surgical scars, enlarged pores, stretch marks, and wrinkles. It doesn’t deliver heat to the skin as lasers do, so because of this, those with melasma or hyperpigmentation can safely undergo it without the risk of worsening their pigmentation issue.
Because microneedling is minimally invasive, it requires little to no downtime, and is considered safe for those in good health. You will only experience minor inflammation, redness, and irritation after your treatment.
There are only a few temporary side effects with microneedling like skin flaking, and short-term swelling, which can last a few days. You can return to wearing makeup 24 hours after your treatment. However, your skin will be more sensitive to the sun than usual, so applying sunscreen regularly is advised.
For those with active inflammatory acne or oral herpes, microneedling may worsen active breakouts. Because of this, we don’t recommend microneedling treatment to these patients until all lesions have cleared.
Patients should notice improved skin texture with increased plumpness, diminished pore size, sun damage, acne, scars, stretch marks, or scars with reduced wrinkles. Natural full results are expected in 90 days post-procedure.
The best results will be seen with 2-3 treatments scheduled 4-6 weeks apart.
We offer single sessions as well as packages where you can experience savings! Please contact us for pricing as each individual has different needs.
When you want to improve how your skin looks, microneedling can regenerate collagen products and reveal smoother, firmer, and younger-looking skin.
